HOW TO FIGHT WITH MOISTURE AND THE DIRT ON THE WALLS?

Spring is the favorite season of mushrooms - unfortunately, also the wall ones. Humid air and lower temperatures favor their development, so you should know how to protect walls from them or how to get rid of them when they appear in your apartment.

CAUSES OF MOISTURE

In order to effectively remove the moisture, you should first diagnose what causes it. There are many reasons for its occurrence - it may be, for example, a flooding with tap water caused by a broken pipe. Rainwater flooding is also often encountered if the roof, gutter or downpipes have been damaged. It also happens when the waterproofing in the room is made incorrect.

Insufficient ventilation can also contribute to moisture in the apartment. Sometimes the error in the construction of the building causes spot cooling in the insulation of the building and then the so-called thermal bridge. When the wall temperature becomes lower than the condensation temperature of the water vapor, unwanted spots appear in the form of moisture or fungi on the wall.

EXPERT ADVICE

It is worth to think about how you can prevent the occurrence of moisture in the apartment and apply appropriate measures and methods. However, when the mushroom appears, do not hesitate to remove it, because the more advanced the stage will be, the harder it will get rid of.

HOW TO REMOVE MOISTURE?

After recognizing the causes of moisture in a given room, you can start to fight it. First of all, the ventilation should be improved, for example by installing wall or window diffusers. If the cause was damage, then you need to repair the roof, pipe or gutter. It is also important to protect the walls from moisture. It is possible thanks to the damp proof and anti-water insulation of the foundation walls and the basement. The next step in the fight with the fungus is to assess the extent of damage and remove the damage. First, thoroughly dry the place of moisture with a dehumidifier, a moisture absorber or a fan, and then remove the fungus from the wall.

If it was discovered relatively early, it is enough to wash the wall with water and detergent using a sponge or brush. Also, remember to remove flaky paint. In turn, if the fungus has already penetrated into the plaster, then it is necessary to coat it and apply a new layer.

BETTER PREVENT

When the unwanted guest has already disappeared and a new plaster is placed on the wall, it is worth adding a fungicide that prevents the fungus from returning.

HOW TO FIGHT WITH DIRTY WALLS?

The cause of stains on the walls is not only moisture. In every flat, it's not difficult to get them- whether thanks to small artists who like to paint on the walls or, for example, insect remains. To many of us, it also happens to rub against the wall, or hit it with a shoe - and another dirt ready. They are often caused by tobacco smoke or oils. Usually, it is enough to wash the wall with water and detergent, and if it does not help, you can use soap or lotion. In such cases, you must also think about the right paint, which will cover the stains. In Decoramar Pinturas we use the paint, which perfectly covers all the stains, adheres well to the substrate. It can be used as a primer or topcoat, for painting and renovation of both ceilings and walls. Its big advantage is protection against fungi.

ATTENTION: When carrying out renovation works in an apartment, it is worth taking care of rooms that are particularly exposed to moisture, that is, the kitchen and bathroom. Their walls should be protected against fungus, using the special paint. Our modern paints contain pure silver and protect the wall against the occurrence of bacteria, mold or fungi. The addition of silicone increases its resistance to moisture, as well as washing and scrubbing
