DISCOVER THE MOST COMMON PROBLEMS DURING PAINTING THE WALLS

Nothing raises the discussion among interior designer’s enthusiasts like painting the walls. The problems that appear on this occasion can affect the entire renovation -  to make corrections means losing your time and finances.

WRONG PREPARED WALL

The painting itself is usually the simplest stage of the entire process, but its success is also influenced by other works, especially the preparation of the surface, on which we should spend a lot of time. The wall before painting should be smoothed with sandpaper. Using a spatula, remove old paint and fill the cavities with a ready-made repair mass, which should also be sanded after drying. The wall should also be washed with painting soap to get rid of greasy stains and dirt that may cause bad coverage. Before proceeding, we wait for the wall to dry thoroughly. Remember that hurry is the enemy of every renovation.

LACK OF WALL PRIMING

Skipping priming usually is a result of the lack of time or our beliefs that the next layer will stick better on the old paint. Nothing could be more wrong! Good primer balances wall absorbency, affecting the uniformity of colour on the entire wall, and reduces the absorbency of the substrate, so that we use less paint for painting. It is not worth saving time in favor of omitting to prime. An additional layer of paint or even two that we will have to apply during the painting will definitely take more time.

WORK ON ONE WALL TO THE END

Sometimes we try to speed up the wall painting in a chaotic way. The problems that may arise in the case of a badly planned work is the inequalities that will arise if we first paint all the edges on each wall, and then proceed to replenish large areas. Remember to connect the wall elements together when they are still wet. The next layer at the corners located on the already dry paint strip may cause a much darker part of the wall than we expected. We work on one wall from the very beginning to the end.

READ THE LABEL

To paint the room yourself, you do not have to be an expert. However, it is worth knowing where to look for key information that will affect the success of our renovation. Compliance with the manufacturer's instructions for storage, application, and dilution of paint products will help to avoid failure during painting. Remember to check the expiry date of the paint and avoid them being frightened and overheated.

UNIFORM PRESSURE

When painting the wall with a roller, remember to apply always the same amount of the paint keeping a constant pressure at the same time. Too much will cause the paint to spatter (in the case of a diluted one) or to pour out from the edges of the roller (if we use thick paint). Do not paint with a roller that is too dry or permeated. Grinding the paint will break through and create an inhomogeneous coating. If you are not sure of your skills, start with a wall that will be covered, for example, a wardrobe and only then go to the ones exposed in the room that you are renovating.

BE PATIENT

You can not assume that you will paint the whole room in half a day if you want to do it right. Both preparation and drying between layers take time. If you want to avoid blisters, wrinkles, as well as streaks and stains, keep the intervals recommended by the manufacturer of the paint. Remember, fixing errors often take much longer. The list of problems that can occur when painting walls are extensive. Proper planning of the schedule will facilitate the whole task and allow you to enjoy the beautiful and aesthetic interior.
